GENERAL INFORMATION
The result of surgery : what to expect ?
The outcome of any surgery depends on two things: the patient and the surgeon.
  • Factors related to the patient may affect the final result of the surgery and delay the recovery period. These factors include: thick skin, a tendency toward excessive scar formation, slow recovery, heavy smoking, heavy alcohol intake, obesity, etc. However, these factors do not contra-indicate surgery.

  • Factors related to the surgeon include surgical experience and artistic judgment

  • What are the risks ?
As with other surgical procedures, cosmetic surgery entails possible complications such as bleeding, infection, excessive scar formation, anesthesia complications and rejection of implants, etc. Fortunately, these complications are uncommon.
    What happens before surgery ?
A complete medical examination and a series of laboratory tests are arranged for you before surgery. Professional photographs are also taken. - It is important that you inform our office about any medical problems you may suffer from, such as allergy to any medication, heart disease, psychological disease or any other medical problem. - It is important that you avoid exposure to the sun, smoking, alcohol intake and medications containing aspirin for at least two weeks prior to surgery.
Is there any pain during surgery ?
You experience no pain whatsoever during surgery if you are given general anesthesia. For less major surgeries, local anesthesia can be used, usually with little discomfort.
    What happens after surgery ?
You return home the same day or the day following surgery. You may experience mild discomfort, some bleeding, some swelling and some skin discoloration for a few days. Numbness may persist for a few days to a few weeks around the operated area. Patients are usually presentable and can return to work two to three weeks following surgery. Your appearance will continue to improve steadily for six months to a year, due to the gradual resorption of the remaining swelling. Following the removal of all dressings, the patient continues to visit the office for periodic check-ups for two to five years. Any early complications can be detected by examination during the course of these visits.

    Just for Men

Men want to look good too!

Over twenty percent of our patients, both surgical and non-surgical are men. Surprised? Most people are. But the simple fact is that men, too, want to feel good about how they look. Like women, they want trimmer waists and fewer wrinkles. It’s a fact; men have a new attitude about skin care and plastic surgery.

The desire to retain a youthful look in today’s competitive world prompts many to action, as the majority of the men we treat are highly visible professionals. Frequent travel and job stress can result in a tired look that does not accurately reflect on job performance. One explains, ”in the business world the feeling is if you look tired or like you don’t take care of yourself, people think you can’t keep up.”

Some men have been unhappy with a certain part of their body all of their lives and are becoming aware of what can be accomplished under the care of a board-certified plastic surgeon. Others watch parts of their body change as they get older and decide to do something about it. Some are concerned their necks no longer look good in a dress shirt. Many want to get rid of the weight that accumulates in the abdomen and hip rolls. Others target the “droopy” look around their eyes.

One trend we have really enjoyed this year is the number of married couples who become patients. Often men are impressed with the great results of their wife’s Botox and Juvederm treatments and schedule a consultation. Just as many times, the men go first and the wives want to keep up with their young-looking guys.

Of concern to almost every man who comes to see us is down time. If you are a man considering surgery, recovery can be easier than you might expect. Men retain their skin elasticity longer, bruise less easily and the areas of fat beneath the skin tend to be firmer than those in women.

Top Three Surgeries for Men :

Liposuction of hip rolls, abdomen and neck - If you have areas of your body that are out of proportion to the rest of your body, and these areas won’t go away even when you are working out, liposuction may be your answer. Liposuction is the most popular surgical procedure for men for good reason. The recovery time is not as long as you might think. Sometimes it is the only way to get rid of fat deposits that don’t respond to diet and exercise.

Eyelid Surgery - Heredity as well as the aging process affects the appearance of the eyes. Eyelid surgery corrects drooping upper lids and puffy bags under the eyes. These are the features that make men look older and more tired than they feel, and sometimes even interfere with their vision.

Breast Reduction for Men to correct Gynecomastia - Gynecomastia, or male enlarged breasts, is a condition that is rarely talked about, though it's actually quite common. Gynecomastia affects an estimated 40 to 60 percent of men. It may affect only one breast or both. dr. A. Edriss uses liposuction to remove fat and or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in extreme cases excess skin is also removed, resulting in a chest that is flatter, firmer, and better contoured.

Facelift - A third of our facelift patients are men who want to reverse the laxity in their skin caused by gravity and aging. The areas most improved are the jaw, the neck and the fold from the nose to the side of the mouth (nasolabial fold).

Rhinoplasty (Surgery of the Nose) - Whether they are dissatisfied with the way their nose naturally developed or they injured it playing sports, men find that a rhinoplasty can help reshape the nose to look and work better.

Otoplasty (Surgery to Correct Protruding Ears) - After this surgery, most men tell us they wished they had done sooner to avoid all the teasing.

Top Three Non-Surgical Procedures For Men :

Botox - This is a great procedure that is super-popular for men because they get real results and don’t have to take any time off. Furrowed brows, wrinkled foreheads and crow’s feet can all be corrected in about ten minutes. Removing the lines in these areas can go a long way toward a younger and more relaxed look at work.

Injectable fillers - Restylane and Juvederm are becoming as popular as Botox for men because of the areas that can be treated with little or no recovery time. Men seem to get especially good results from the new Under Eye Contouring with Fillers because they often are troubled with more pronounced hollows under the eyes. Because hyaluronic acid fillers are so easy to mold, they are used for creases in the ears, chin area and acne scars. The fold from the nose to the side of the mouth (nasolabial fold) can be filled in with Juvederm or Restylane as well as the lines on the forehead and frown area. This is most effective when used in conjunction with Botox cosmetic to eliminate the movements that cause these lines.
