Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the U.S. It can give women with small or unevenly-sized breasts a fuller, firmer, better-proportioned look through the placement of implants in the breast. Women may elect to undergo breast augmentation for many different medical and aesthetic motivations, including balancing breast size and compensating for reduced breast mass after pregnancy or surgery. The procedure may be combined with others such as a breast lift for more satisfying results.
Implants are silicone shells filled with either saline (salt water) or silicone gel (recently approved by the FDA). They are placed behind each breast, underneath either breast tissue or the chest wall muscle. The procedure lasts one to two hours and is typically performed with general anesthesia. After surgery the patient’s bust line may be increased by one or more cup sizes.

Breast Reduction
Large breasts may cause physical and mental discomfort and can even harm the women who have them -- the size and weight of large breasts can result in self-consciousness, improper posture, pain in the back and neck, indentations from bra straps, skin rashes, breathing problems and skeletal deformities. Breast reduction surgery is usually done to provide physical relief from these symptoms, not for cosmetic reasons. Performed under general anesthesia, the two- to four-hour procedure removes fat and glandular tissue and trims resultant excess skin to produce smaller, lighter breasts that are in a healthier proportion to the rest of the body. Breast reduction surgery is not recommended for women who intend to breast-feed, since many of the milk ducts leading to the nipples are removed.During the procedure an anchor-shaped incision is made from the new location of the nipple down to and around the crease beneath the breast. The surgeon removes excess glandular tissue, fat, and skin, relocates the nipple and areola, and reshapes the breast using skin from around the areola before closing the incisions with stitches. Liposuction may be needed to remove excess fat from the armpit area, and in some cases when only fat needs to be removed from the breasts, liposuction alone is used for breast reduction. Scars fade with time but will not disappear, although they can be hidden with a bra, bathing suit or low-cut top.

Breast Lift
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is performed to return youthful shape and lift to breasts that have sagged as a result of weight loss, pregnancy, loss of the skin’s natural elasticity or simply the effects of aging and gravity. The procedure can also reduce areolar size (the dark skin surrounding the nipple), and it can be combined with breast reduction for added firmness. It is usually done under general anesthesia, and lasts from one to three hours.Click here for more information on Breast lift.
Breast Reduction for Men
Although rarely discussed, enlarged male breasts is a common condition. Gynecomastia affects approximately 40 to 60 percent of men. There is often no known cause for gynecomastia, although there has been some correlation with various drugs or medical conditions.Men who feel self-conscious about their appearance are helped with breast-reduction surgery. The procedure removes fat and/or glandular tissue from the breasts, and in extreme cases removes excess skin, resulting in a contoured chest that is flatter and firmer.

Breast Reconstruction
Breast reconstruction restores a natural, symmetrical appearance to the bosom, maintains body proportion, allows clothes to fit better, and most important of all, boosts self-confidence for women who have lost one or both breasts to mastectomy, or who lack breasts or have asymmetrical breasts due to a congenital or developmental abnormality. Reconstructive surgeons strive to create a new breast and nipple that resemble the woman's natural breast as closely as possible in shape, size and position.Dr. A. Edriss subspecialized for years in breast reconstruction for cancer patients and finds this type of surgery to be exceptionally rewarding for both the patient and her.

Nipple Reconstruction
Pregnancy can leave you with inverted or stretched nipples that make the breasts look aged or unattractive. Nipple reconstruction reshapes one or both nipples to achieve a pleasing and youthful appearance. Nipple reconstruction may be performed using one of several techniques, including tissue and cartilage flaps, skin grafts and tattooing. It is most often performed as a second- or third-stage procedure in breast reconstruction for women who have undergone mastectomy.Click here for more information on Nipple Reconstruction.

Short-Scar Techniques
For many years, women who had breast reduction or breast lift surgery were left with prominent scars and the risk of the breasts drooping or flattening over time. The recently popularized short-scar techniques improve upon traditional breast reduction methods to avoid these problems. The vertical short-scar technique involves making a lollipop-shaped incision in the breast. Tissue beneath the nipple and areole are left intact, allowing dr. A. Edriss to consistently provide patients with attractively contoured breasts that stay high. The vertical scars are small and tend to heal well. Avoiding the horizontal scar underneath the breasts allows patient to freely wear deep plunging necklines exposing the cleavage without fear of revealing scars. Because there is no scar extending the side of the breasts, halter tops can also be worn without worry.
